SHAKING OFF THE DUST:
SHAKING OFF THE DUST:
MOVING ON WITH GRACE //BY APOSTLE DHAMBE FRED
Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Today, we turn to a passage in Matthew 10:14-16, where Jesus instructs his disciples as they embark on their mission to spread the Gospel. The verse that resonates with us today is: "And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet."
These words can be easily misinterpreted, leading us to believe that rejection should be met with anger or even contempt. However, a deeper understanding reveals a message of grace and moving forward with dignity.
Understanding the Context:
Firstly, we must remember the context. Jesus was sending his disciples, like sheep among wolves, into a world often hostile to his message. Rejection was inevitable. Shaking off the dust of their feet was not a curse, but a symbolic act. It signified leaving behind those who refused to hear the message, without harboring resentment.
Moving On with Grace:
This act teaches us a powerful lesson: we cannot force people to accept our beliefs. It is important to share our faith with conviction and love, but ultimately, the choice to embrace it lies with the individual. When faced with rejection, shaking off the dust, metaphorically speaking, means accepting it gracefully and moving on.
This doesn't mean giving up or compromising our faith. It means continuing to spread the message of love and acceptance with unwavering conviction, but without clinging to negativity or bitterness towards those who reject it.
Applying in Our Lives:
This principle extends beyond sharing our faith. We encounter rejection in various aspects of life. In the face of career setbacks, relationship difficulties, or even disagreements with loved ones, holding on to negativity only hurts ourselves.
Learning to shake off the dust in these situations allows us to:
Maintain our inner peace and avoid being consumed by negativity.
Focus our energy on positive things and opportunities.
Open ourselves up to possibilities that might arise when we move forward with a clear and unburdened heart.
Remember:
Just as Jesus continued his ministry despite facing rejection, we too are called to persevere in spreading love and compassion, even when it's not easy. Let's commit to sharing our faith and values with grace and dignity, and gracefully accept rejection while remaining true to ourselves and our beliefs.
